Dafri

Jason Dafri Thompson aka Dafri (short for “Dance, Africa, Free”) is a Lexington based artist and illustrator. Dafri is known for combining collage techniques with interwoven fabrics to create playful, interactive works that beckon the viewer closer. His pieces often feature stunning contrasts between subject matter – predominantly black and white cutouts of African American faces and bodies – and strikingly colorful backdrops.

Dafri’s artistic process begins digitally with ipad illustrations and ultimately ends with the cutting board, where a combination of collaging, painting, gold leafing and fine tuning with the Exacto knife bring his intricate works to life.
